Apple Unveils the Highly Anticipated 7th Generation iPad Pro 2024
Apple has finally launched the much-anticipated 7th Generation iPad Pro 2024. With a chassis thinner than any previous iPad or even the Nano, and a powerful chip that can effortlessly challenge your laptop, this new iPad Pro is a complete overhaul of its 2022 predecessor. It features a new OLED screen, a more powerful M4 chip, and supports the all-new Apple Pencil Pro and updated Magic Keyboard, which includes a larger trackpad, aluminum palm rest, and dedicated function row. In other words, if there was ever an iPad capable of replacing your laptop, this is it.
Design: Incredibly Thin and Lightweight
The design of the new iPad Pro is truly remarkable, boasting the thinnest chassis of any Apple product to date, even outdoing the classic iPad Nano. The 13-inch model is just 5.1mm thick, while the 11-inch model is 5.3mm thick. The 11-inch version weighs only 444 grams (Wi-Fi) and the 13-inch version weighs 579 grams. Both models feature an aluminum enclosure and are available in Space Black or Silver.
Display: Introducing OLED Technology
For the first time, the iPad Pro features an OLED display. Apple uses a technology called Tandem OLED, which utilizes light from two OLED panels to deliver “exceptional” full-screen brightness—up to 1000 nits for SDR and HDR content and 1600 nits peak brightness for HDR. The new screen, dubbed Ultra Retina XDR, is available on both the 13-inch and 11-inch models. You get all the other Pro iPad features such as ProMotion (adaptive 120Hz refresh rate) and True Tone. Apple also offers a “nano-texture display glass” option on the 1TB and 2TB models to minimize glare for added protection.
M4 Chip: Promising Powerful Performance
The new M4 chip is based on second-generation 3-nanometer technology. It includes a 10-core CPU that is 50% faster than the previous M2 chip and a 10-core GPU that is four times faster than the M2’s GPU. However, the full-blown version is only available in the 1TB and 2TB models. The 256GB and 512GB models come with a 9-core CPU. The iPad Pro also features hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, and a 16-core NPU capable of 38 trillion operations per second. Apple will provide more details on how this NPU enhances AI capabilities at WWDC 2024.
Expanded Storage Options
Apple has doubled the storage options for the new iPad Pro. You can choose from 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage capacities. The 1TB and 2TB models come with 16GB of RAM, while the 256GB and 512GB models have 8GB of RAM.
Camera Setup: Minor Changes
The camera setup on the new iPad Pro is similar to the previous model, featuring a single 12-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front camera. However, the front camera, known as TrueDepth, has been moved to a landscape position, enhancing the video calling experience.
Advanced Connectivity
The new iPad Pro excels in connectivity, supporting Wi-Fi 6E, which offers significantly faster speeds than previous Wi-Fi standards. It also includes 5G support for high-speed mobile internet and Bluetooth 5.3 for easy wireless device connections. Notably, Apple has fully transitioned to eSIM technology, meaning the iPad Pro 2024 lacks a physical SIM card slot.
The USB Type-C port supports the latest Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 standard, providing data transfer speeds of up to 40 Gbps, enhancing your workflow efficiency.
